Squirrelly and Silly

Thu Jan 21, 2010, 1:37 PM
Title explanation...

the squirrels on campus are a breed of their own. There are the standard black and greys, and there are a couple of spunky reds who think they're the hottest thing to hit UW. But ever since the fall, I really started noticing them and watching their behaviour...

One day, RANDOMLY, they all stopped madly gathering nuts and sat in trees. They picked the tallest branch, then sat there making this bizarre long squeak noise. Kind of like a squeaky door opening slowly. This gave me chills because not only was one doing it, THEY ALL WERE. Like some squirrel holiday or something, except they freak out wary students instead of getting plastered and throwing up all over a friend's house. The eeriness doubled because it was the week before Halloween.

Now they sit in their trees and chirrup loudly at you, flicking their tails every time they do it. There's no enemy in sight, they just do it. Weirdo squirrels!!! I almost want them to throw a pinecone at me, just so I might be able to understand what they really mean. If anyone has any insight at all regarding this topic, I'd LOVE to hear from you!

In the meantime, I'll enjoy the lovely sunshine, write creative juicy journal entries, continue to destroy Wreck this Journal (a book by Keri Smith that everyone needs to check out), and think about Harry Potter. The phase is back, my friends! Now off to eat some orange...

Have a great weekend!!!

The average life is full of near misses and absolute hits, of great love and small disasters. It's made up of banana milkshakes, loft insulation, and random shoes. It's dead ordinary and truly truly amazing.
:iconalgonquinpaddler:
Truly deserved. :)
